Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Fire & Rescue 541-997-3212
Steve Able
Interim Chief
CERT will transmit on GMRS channel 22 in the event of a disaster.
To listen to the broadcast, or contact them on a radio, you can buy a GMRS/FRS capable radio at BiMart.
Get the longest range radio you can afford and keep it charged and tuned to channel 22.
Heceta South will use FRS channel 2 to communicate with each other in our community.
CERT recommends Florence residents have 30 days of food, water (1 gallon per person per day) and supplies on hand in the event of a disaster. See the Build a Kit FEMA web page.
An earthquake with liquefaction damage to roads and infrastructure will have major impact for all of us living in Heceta South.
Recent Earthquake/Tsunami events in Japan, Christchurch, NZ and Peru, all had major damage related to soft-soil amplification in the presence of a shallow aquifer - like the Florence Area.
